Is it possible to upgrade JUST the Cpu on my computer?

I got a new computer off of craigslist for fairly cheap. Everything else on it is great, it's just the cpu sucks balls.

Was wondering if just upgrading it by itself is doable and what I'd have to do.
I don't know much about cpus tbh.

Thanks!

I'll supply the performance info in a sec if needed.

Notes

Or perhaps after looking at this you can give serious tips on how to improve it.

I just need a basic machine that can run games pretty smooth.

Right now it runs them, but almost as if it's hating it.
