[Help] Are bots still common?

I'm kind of curious now, I've came across one of these master players and he kept spilling all this information about him botting the game for all of his (Portraits), problem is he claimed he done it around 2010-2011.
Are these bots still roaming around in Starcraft II, or did I miss the events when they were available at the time?
