[DS] Which pokemon game

I just bought Pokemon White for my little brother, and I had helped him beat the first gym so he could see how to kill and what the game is kind of based like. This version is weird, I did like HeartGold when I had it...
If you guys have experience, let me know what you recommend, so I will be able to keep an eye out for a craigslist AD

(In the mean time I will keep raising my Wartortle and Umbreon on Crystal, I'll even try to get myself a lavitar)
