Ever wonder why you suck at CoD? Well it could have something to do with one of the following topics.

1. Your connection could suck. If you don't know by now your connection is one of the biggest factors in any FPS, especially at the top levels of play. Typically humans will have a reaction time somewhere between 150ms and 300ms. This means that even a delay of 300ms will mean the host of the game will most likely have already reacted by the time you get to see them. Unfortunately there aren't many way to improve your connection. If possible having a wired connection will always be better than working off the same internets WiFi capabilities. Other than that you will just have to pay for faster internet. You can test your internet speeds at Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (my internet works pretty well at 30Mbps Down and 1Mbps Up).

2. Your gaming equipment might need some work. Fortunately, there are a lot of ways to improve your gaming equipment.

a. Screens/Monitors - If your playing on a big screen, there is a good chance that it's hurting your ability to aim and/or ability to see people at far distances. I would recommend a screen 19" to 24", preferably a 1080p monitor with an HDMI port and response time of under 5ms(obviously a 2ms or 1ms response time would be better). With a screen of this size you won't have any positive acceleration if you set your screen regions correctly, so once you become used to it your aiming should be much more consistent. Also you should be able to see people much farther away if your using a 1080p screen and connecting with the HDMI cable, although you will have to sit much closer to the screen(like you would with a computer).

b. Headsets - A high end headset with 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound can help improve your play. You will be able to tell the direction shots are in relationship to you. I can recommend Astro A40 wired(my current headset) and the Tritton AX pros (my old headset). I've also heard good things of the high end Turtle beaches. Really anything with a mixamp and uses a optical cable.

c. Controller Modification - Controller modification is by far the cheapest way to help improve your play, with a descent monitor in the $200-400 range and a good headset in the $125-300 range. I'm only going to cover legitimate controller modification because I don't know anything about rapid fire mod and ect.. If you have ever played for a few hours straight your hands have probably gotten sweaty at some point and it can affect your grip with the controller. A really cheap and cool mod that I have recently found out about is to wrap your controller with tennis tape. It's not very easy to wrap but the tape is very cheap, about $5 at walmart, here is a picture for reference The girl that checked me out was like, "oh you play too." Too embarrassed to explain I said, "why yes, i do." (X-post r/halo) - Imgur. Another cheap legitimate controller mod that can really help you in the long run to buy a pair of FPS FREEKS, the can only be bought online, you can get them at Could not find the page you were looking for, Xbox 360 & PS3 Performance Game Controller Accessories by KontrolFreek. I would recommend the Fps Freek Elite or the Fps Freek Havoc. Essentially they extend the thumb sticks of the controller and make smaller adjustments easier while aiming. Also they smooth out the rough transition that happens when you move one of the thumb sticks from side to side.

I hope this helps improve your play.
